I try to stay apolitical, but sometimes things just get too ridiculous, unjust and nasty. Jesus said give to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's. I believe that what we owe God is gratitude for all our blessings -- and to actively share in the love and provision He gives us. I believe that when we follow God in Christ Jesus that we must obey his commandment to love one another -- and to live in relationship with the Lord by seeking and working for justice, by loving and practicing mercy and by walking humbly with Him.
Especially when people claim to be followers of Jesus Christ but do not work to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, release to imprisoned and rescue the oppressed . . .and treat everyone in need as if each one is Jesus Christ whom they claim to love, it just makes me sad.
We are living in a time when the men in power are afraid of losing their power, desperate not to be able to be in control, afraid of being treated as they have treated women and people who are minorities. It's come to be a kind of war on women and minorities and sadly with the aggressor's using the Bible, just as for centuries bigots used the Bible to rationalize and support slavery. Soooooooo messed up!
