Violence and the threat of violence will never create peace. There is something beyond non-violence. It is caritas -- actively loving and allowing people to be guaranteed all the opportunities they need to have water, food, clothing, and a roof over their heads.
Peace begins in each person's heart . . . goes out to his or her family . . . moves out to the neighborhood, to villages and towns, in work places, clubs, gangs, faith-based associations, synagogues, churches, mosques, cities, states, nations and the whole wide world.
What if every time a ship sailed or a plane flew anywhere, part of the cargo hold was dedicated to humanitarian relief or whatever any of us can share with one another. And the exchange would go both ways. We can all learn from one another, respect one another, honor each other and all of our cultural backgrounds, and ethnic attributes.
