I feel like I need to make clear again that there are many people in my life who I love. Dry much, but who I do not agree with at all, and in some cases, I can even really believe how they can believe what they say they believe. But we all have the right to our own opinions.
We we do NOT have the right to oppress anyone, to on the rights and freedoms of anyone, to use violence and/or the threat of violence, to hurt, threaten, punish or kill anyone.
Those who oppress and use violence and the threat of violence to stay in power are afraid that if they lose power, they will be treated as they have actively or passively treated other individuals or groups of people. As Thomas Jefferson wrote, as it is inscribed in marble on one of the inner walls of his Memorial speaking of the heinous institution of slavery which was perpetuated in direct opposition to the ideals of freedom and liberty,
"God who gave us life gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that His justice cannot sleep forever.”
While I don't believe I am always right, I do try to be certain that I know why I believe what I believe. At the same time, there is no way I need to justify myself to anyone. What is most important to me is between me and God, which is true for each person whether she or he believes in God or not.
