NEW BEGINNINGS

Dearly Beloved,

I would like to catch you up on me and how things are changing.  If you feel led, please continue to pray for me and my family.  We appreciate you love and prayers more than we can say.

Here are some projects we are working on that are in various stages:

One non-profit is to help veterans and active duty US military members and their dependents.  It is called Honor Homes and will be houses and services kind of like Ronald MacDonald Houses so that all Americans who want to help those in service or who were in service if they are in hospital or rehab.

The other one is to have working ranches for homeless, abandoned, wounded and addicted teenagers to get them off the streets and help them know they are loved and have a wonderful future.  On the ranches and farms they will help raise therapy horses and dogs to be able to help others.

Then also there are places for people who are leaving addictions or struggling with mental health issues and even suicide . . . Small motels, B&Bs, camps, retreat centers.  There will be connection organizations and some kinds of franchise opportunities.

I am 63 years old and have a BA in Russian and East European Area Studies from the University of Illinois, U-C, in 1978, with a 6-12 Teaching Certification that I no longer keep up.

On July 24, 1980 I was commissioned as an officer in the United State Air Force, ten months after my then-husband was commissioned as an Air Force officer, too.

I was an Air Intelligence Officer who worked helping to monitor the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty and other treaties in an organization call the Air Force Applications Center at Patrick AFB, FL. I was involved in operations when the Soviets put nuclear missile tests in the Broad Ocean Area of the Pacific Ocean.  US Air Force and US Navy platforms were used by aircrews to be onsite when missile tests re-entered and test packages were detonated. Our office also supported the Commander of the Eastern Space and Missile Center and I worked with the operators supporting manned and unmanned space launches and missile tests by flying with the rescue helicopters over the Atlantic.

In 1987 I answered a call to ministry that I had had since I was 6 years old. I have served churches in and near Washington, DC and also been in mission in Ukraine, Russia and Kazakhstan.  I earned a Master of Divinty degree in Urban Ministry from Wesley Theological Seminary in Wash, DC in 1996, along with a Master of Theological Studies degree in Ethics and Public Policy focusing in the Dilemma of Arms Control and Disarmament in the post-Soviet era.

In 2011 I earned a Doctorate of Ministry degree slso from Wesley Theological Seminary.  My doctoral project was a seminar in Basic Christian Spiritual Practices in Russian and in English, especially for the people of the former Soviet Union who were part of or interested in United Methodism and especially how it could be compared to and contrasted with Russian Orthodoxy.

I am opening a website and offering courses, books, pamphlets and workshops on Ethics and Public Policy.  This is called the Peace Ethics Institute.
On November 9th, the first Peace Exchange Luncheon where people involved in non-profit, NGO and faith-based organizations can interact with political, diplomatic and military leaders in Washington, DC.

There will also be something like farmers markets where people of various ethnic groups ca showcase, share and sell food, artifacts, dances, music, and other unique cultural achievements with others in their city.  These will be called, Peace Exchanges.

Another cultural-based offering are restaurants where people can come and eat and get services for medical, legal, immigration help. These will be something "Homecoming" or "Housewarming" -- whatever the cultural equivalent of that culture's helping people to move and/or start a new life.

Another franchise opportunity will be online and physical clearing houses where people can receive, give, barter, trade, buy and sell what they need or do 't need -- especially those who have been overseas in business, for political service or diplomatic service . . . Or for faith-based and medical helping agencies.

Thanks for being willing to read what I have written.  I used to have a non-profit called the Peace Fellowship Association, but in spring of 2011 she. My mother fell and ended up in a nursing home, and from the time she passed away in Dec of 2012, I have chosen not to be overseas and instead be available to my family -- our Dad and my daughter and her family, and my son and his family. So my ministry has mostly been Prayer and spiritual direction on FB, e-mail, on the phone and in person.

I have recently self-published a book that is a collection of meditations I wrote and sent out to friends and family members by e-mail.  The book is called, "Drinks of Living Waters: Walking with Jesus the Messiah."
I have taught college courses in Ethics; in World Religions; and in Western Humanities.  I have taught, preached and served in ministry by doing weddings and funerals.  All together I have lived in or traveled to 49 states, 10 countries on 4 continents.

Again . . . Thanks very much for your interest.
Kathleen Ware Harris, D. Min.
